Frequently asked questions

What a legal paraprofessional is, which cases I handle, and how fees work.

What is an Arizona Legal Paraprofessional?

A legal professional licensed by the Arizona Supreme Court to provide legal services directly to clients, without attorney supervision, in specific areas of law. Legal paraprofessionals are not attorneys. They must meet education, experience, and examination requirements and follow the same ethical rules that govern attorneys.

What kinds of cases can you handle?

Civil matters that are, or could be, heard in an Arizona justice or municipal court. Justice courts hear civil cases with $10,000 or less in dispute, not counting interest, costs, and awarded fees. Typical matters include unpaid invoices, contract disputes, and collection cases.

Can you represent me in court?

Yes, within that scope. I can draft and file documents, negotiate on your behalf, and appear at hearings, mediation, and trial.

Can you help with a small claims case?

Small claims cases, up to $5,000, are heard without attorneys or legal paraprofessionals unless both sides agree in writing. Either side can transfer the case to the justice court's civil division, generally at least 10 business days before the hearing. Once it's there, I can represent you.

What if my case is outside your scope?

I'll tell you at the first conversation and help you find a licensed attorney. If a matter grows beyond my scope while I'm handling it, I'll tell you right away.

How much does it cost?

Most matters are handled for a flat fee, quoted in writing before any work begins.

Do you work with other law firms?

Yes. Attorneys hire me for contract legal support: LP services within my Civil Law endorsement, and paralegal-level drafting, discovery, and case management under their supervision. I also consult with firms on operations and AI.
